1st week March. Immature Little Gull seen several days running on the Golf Course.

20th March. Lizard on my kitchen floor (brought in by cats? - or had it hibernated under the sink unit? It was uninjured. I put it on a stone wall in the sun. Bumble bee on the grass.

26th March, Wheatear on the sand dunes.

Large patch of small flowers blooming. 4 petals, flattened elliptical seed pods; think it is Erophila verna, growing on a south facing sand dune.

For some years I have recorded a mixed flock of Finches in the spring and it was several years before I could positively identify the majority of them as Twites. The rest were greenfinches, goldfinches or chaffinches. These little birds feed on the daisy seeds on my lawn and the flock used to be hundreds strong and about the garden for three weeks or so, and in the surrounding trees and bushes~ Lately many of the trees have been cut own and a new house built and last year I did not see them at all, but today there was a small party of about a dozen Twites on my daisies.

Surely in the above article the birds in question are Linnets? For many years several experienced ornithologists with knowledge of the local avifauna have carefully scrutinized the mixed finch flocks in the Pembrey area and only rarely do Twites occur and as individuals or in very small numbers in the flocks of finches which invariably contain Linnets.
