The Cencoed-uchaf reserve has produced fruit for the first time since 1975/76. Attempts will be made to increase the stock of this rare tree by successful germination (the seeds usually have to be frost -treated - or frozen in the fridge - to germinate). The fact that the seeds require this frost treatment and the good fruiting after hot summers points to the preference for continental conditions (hot summers, cold winters) made by this species.
