There has been a relative glut of records of this ‘Atlantic’ fern in the last year or so – reflecting better recording activity in appropriate localities rather than an increase in numbers.  In addition to the rediscovery of the species at Glynhir near Llandybie made during the BSBI meeting based there in June 2000, IKM and Nigel Stringer have found it at another (more local) Glynhir – near Ponthenri (SN473103) and at two sites in Troserch Woods north of Llangennech (at SN549042 and 551038), where it grows on steep Pennant Sandstone outcrops.  The pinnules (‘frond leaflets’) are upturned, which gives the fern a distinctive crispy appearance.
