All the regular winter birds were seen in our Llangennech garden, including a Blackcap feeding on windfall apples on Jan 2nd 2005, a Goldcrest in the apple tree, Long-tailed Tits and Bullfinches (and we still had a good crop of apples).  A Song Thrush sang regularly each morning from January onwards.  Reed Buntings were seen, usually feeding on the ground but sometimes from the bird-table, eating oatmeal and suet.  On the ground they fed from a plastic tray containing, on one occasion, soggy rice-cakes, which supports a theory that they are attracted to light coloured food.  However Barry Stewart reports that a friend of his feeds them on Trill, to which they are very partial !
