In my garden in Llangennech this autumn, events dictated that the annual raking of fallen leaves was only partly completed and the area remaining included many windfall apples which have subsequently proved to be attractive to wintering Blackcaps.  On New Year’s Day we saw a male and a few days before we had seen a female, both initially feeding in the apple tree and hedge before flying down to feed for some minutes on the fallen apples in company with the Blackbirds and Song Thrush.
