Found on June 10th June ox-bow of the Tywi to the East of Dryslwyn at SN5620, were many living specimens of the scarce Swan Mussel (Anodonta cygnea), a very large freshwater bivalve. An empty shell that was collected measured 5.5 inches (14 cm) x 3.25 inches (7 cm) .It is described by W.M. Condry as, "very local in Wales and a sign of high fertility".
